My experience

I’ve worked in the UK voluntary sector since 2003 (after a brief stint in the advertising world). I’ve an academic background in health policy, social research and biological anthropology.

Working in voluntary sector projects, I was always interested in whether or not the work was worthwhile, so I became drawn more and more towards strategy and impact. I slowly specialised until evaluation and learning became my focus, eventually shifting to consultancy and training with Charities Evaluation Services (now part of NCVO). I went freelance in 2013, still work regularly as an NCVO Associate, and am a member of the Framework consultancy collective. You can see examples of my work here.

I enjoy working with people who genuinely wish to use impact data to learn and improve, not only to report externally. I find that with these projects there’s greater potential for the work to be really valuable all round, and there’s greater values alignment – and therefore greater joy!

I’ve trained as an embodied facilitator and coach, and I have longstanding meditation and movement practices. I also teach meditation and yoga. While I naturally bring some of these practices into all that I do, if you’re particularly interested in embodied coaching, or other sides of my work, you can find out more at Movement for Change.

My values

Because I believe that how we do anything is how we do everything, I respect everyone’s dignity, wellbeing and power.

Because I believe relationships are at the heart of life, I place care, community and creativity at the heart of my work.

Because I hope to live in a better world one day, I aim to build greater justice, liberation and joy through the work I do, and how I do it.

In practice this means taking care of the ways we work and each other, as well as the work itself. It can mean using more than one lens – not only organisational or individual, but also interpersonal and systemic.

It also necessarily entails falling short, as I am deeply enmeshed in these same unjust systems. So, I welcome difficult conversations and am grateful for uncomfortable feedback.
